Yorkshire Bank

Yorkshire Bank was a commercial banking brand in the UK, established in 1859 in Halifax. It was a trading name of Clydesdale Bank, a subsidiary of CYBG PLC (Clydesdale and Yorkshire Bank Group), a holding company that was renamed Virgin Money UK PLC on 30 October 2019. Yorkshire Bank offered a wide range of products and services for personal and business customers including current and savings accounts, credit cards, personal and car loans, mortgages, savings and investments as well as home insurance, car insurance, travel insurance, life and critical illness insurance, financial planning, online banking and other services. Yorkshire Bank (previously the NAB Group subsidiary in England) became a part of Clydesdale Bank in 2001. With over 4,000 employees, it operated approximately 137 branches and 20 business & private banking centres in the north of England and the Midlands. In 2016, Clydesdale/Yorkshire Bank was awarded as "Best First Time Buyer Mortgage Provider" by Moneynet.

The Yorkshire Bank brand has since been withdrawn and its customers moved to Virgin Money. The ybonline.co.uk website has been switched off and now redirects to a Virgin Money notice headed "Signing in to Yorkshire Bank has changed", which states that customers no longer sign in to Yorkshire Bank but to Virgin Money, and that Clydesdale Bank mortgages are known simply as Clydesdale mortgages. CYBG PLC was renamed Virgin Money UK PLC on 30 October 2019 and re-registered as Virgin Money UK Limited on 28 July 2026; Clydesdale Bank plc was re-registered as Clydesdale Bank Limited on the same date. Virgin Money is now part of Nationwide Building Society.
