Standard Life plc (LSE: SL), established in 1825, was a savings and investment firm with assets under administration of USD 440 billion (2016). It had operations in the UK, Europe, North America, Asia and Australia and served more than 4.5 million customers worldwide. Standard Life Group operated through Standard Life, Standard Life Investments, Standard Life Wealth and joint venture brands, and provided a wide range of financial products and services including savings, investments, mortgages, healthcare products and individual and corporate pension plans. It employed approximately 6,500 people and had 1.2 million individual shareholders in more than 50 countries.

The company above, registered in Scotland as SC286832, was renamed Standard Life Aberdeen plc on 14 August 2017, abrdn plc on 2 July 2021 and Aberdeen Group plc on 12 March 2025.
