In 2014, it was named the fifth best military bank or credit union in the nation by GoBankingRates. The company was formerly known as Army National Bank and changed its name to Armed Forces Bank in 1997. It operates as a wholly owned subsidiary of Dickinson Financial Corporation; the FDIC records its holding company as Dickinson Financial Corp II. With over 400 employees, the Bank had approximately 50 locations in Alabama, Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Kansas, Kentucky, Missouri, Nevada, New Jersey, Texas, Virginia, Washington and Wyoming. At June 30, 2017, AF Bank had total assets of $1.1 billion, deposits of $853 million and loans of over $600 million. The branch network has since contracted. At June 30, 2026 the FDIC recorded 15 offices for Armed Forces Bank, National Association (FDIC certificate 4666) in ten states: Arizona, Colorado, Illinois, Kansas, Kentucky, Missouri, Nevada, Texas, Virginia and Washington; the bank no longer has offices in Alabama, California, Florida, Georgia, New Jersey or Wyoming. Total assets were $1.42 billion and deposits $1.22 billion at that date. The bank says it serves customers in all 50 states and overseas.
