Smile (smile.co.uk) is the first full-service online bank in the United Kingdom, with roots in Manchester. Launched in 1999, Smile is part of The Co‑operative Bank, which Coventry Building Society acquired in full on 1 January 2025. It offered a broad array of products and services including no monthly fee current accounts, select access saver accounts, no-notice savings accounts, smile cash ISAs, fixed rate cash ISAs, classic and gold credit cards, personal loans, mortgages, car insurance, young driver insurance, home insurance as well as online, mobile and telephone banking and other services. Smile is closed to new applications, although existing accounts continue to operate.

On 1 January 2025 Coventry Building Society acquired the entire share capital of The Co-operative Bank, smile's parent, returning the bank to mutual ownership; the enlarged group reports more than 100 branches and over four million members and customers. A further transfer of The Co-operative Bank's business to Coventry Building Society is proposed for 1 January 2027.
