HSBC Bank Brasil S.A. – Banco Múltiplo was one of the ten largest banks in Brazil with presence in 543 municipalities. It provided a complete range of personal and corporate banking products to approximately 5.4 million customers (including 380,000 business customers) through a network of over 850 agencies, 400 banking service points, 760 electronic service points, 2,160 self-service environments and around 4,940 ATMs. The Bank offered current and savings accounts, personal and mortgage loans, credit and debit cards, life and general insurance, retirement planning, investments, private banking, asset management, treasury and capital markets services, internet banking and more. It was formerly known as Banco Bamerindus do Brasil and changed its name to HSBC Bank Brasil S.A. in 1999. As of March 31, 2016, the company had US$45 billion in total assets and US$3.0 billion in total equity.

In August 2015, Banco Bradesco S.A. acquired HSBC's entire business in Brazil including HSBC Bank Brasil S.A. and HSBC Servicos e Participacoes for BRL17.6 billion (US$5.2 billion). The transaction completed in July 2016.
