Banco Bradesco S.A. is one of the largest banks in Brazil along with Banco do Brasil, Itaú Unibanco and Santander Brasil. It was the largest private bank in Brazil until Banco Itaú and Unibanco merged in 2008. The Bank provides a comprehensive range of financial services for personal and business customers. It offers current, checking and saving accounts, personal and business loans, debit and credit cards, investment banking, asset management, life, health, accident and car insurance, individual and corporate pension plans, online and phone banking and much more. Grupo Bradesco de Seguros e Previdência has a leadership position among major insurers of Brazil’s Auto/RCF and Basic Lines Insurance market, holding a market share of over 10%. Banco Bradesco is also one of the largest credit and debit card issuers in Brazil, with over 90 million credit cards and over 64 million debit cards (2012). With about 105,000 employees, Bradesco serves more than 59 million customers through a network of 13,083 own service points (including 4,637 branches in all of Brazil's states), 49,653 third party service points and over 35,000 ATMs across Brazil. Bradesco customers can also use the about 12,500 ATMs of the Banco24Horas network located nationwide. In addition, the Bank has 3 branches and 6 subsidiaries abroad: Argentina, UK, USA, Luxembourg, Hong Kong, Japan, the Cayman Islands and Bahamas. Bradesco is constantly expanding and has recently acquired Banco do Estado do Maranhão, Banco Mercantil de São Paulo, Banco Ibi, and the Brazilian operations of American Express, BBVA, and J.P. Morgan Fleming Asset Management. Bradesco was founded in 1943 and is headquartered in Osasco, city in São Paulo State, Brazil. It was originally known as Banco Brasileiro de Descontos S.A. and changed its name to Banco Bradesco in 1988. Bradesco stock is traded on the São Paulo Stock Exchange, Madrid and New York stock exchanges. As of March 31, 2012, the company had R$789.550 billion (US$432.65 bn) in total assets, R$213.877 billion (US$117.2 bn) in total deposits, R$350.831 billion (US$192.25 bn) in total loans and R$58.060 billion (US$31.82 bn) in shareholders’ equity.
