ASB Bank Limited, established in 1847, is the first savings bank in New Zealand. In 1969 it became the first New Zealand bank to operate an online real-time computer system. Today, it is one of the largest providers of financial and insurance services in the country with over 140 branches nationwide. The company offers various personal and business banking products, including deposits, personal and home loans, business loans, auto loans, debit and credit cards, online and mobile banking, private banking, investment and insurance products. ASB Bank is a wholly owned subsidiary of Commonwealth Bank of Australia. In 1989 Commonwealth bought the 75% of ASB's shares. ASB serves more than one million personal, business, rural, and share trading customers and employs about 4,900 people. As of September 30, 2015, the company had total assets of NZ$77.104 billion and customer deposits of NZ$53.409 billion.
