On 30 March 2012 the Boards of Directors of Banco Popular Español and Banco Pastor gave their agreement for the takeover of Banco Pastor by Banco Popular, the fifth-biggest listed bank in Spain by assets, market capitalization and client deposits. Currently, Banco Pastor, S.A. is a subsidiary of Banco Popular Espanol but continues to run as a separate entity. As of December 31, 2011, Banco Pastor had total consolidated assets of EUR 30.4 billion, customer funds of EUR 16.436 billion and customer loans of EUR 20.933 billion.
