China Construction Bank Corporation (CCB) is one of the Big Four banks in China. CCB operates in three principal business segments: corporate banking, personal banking, and treasury operations. It serves approximately 317.5 million retail and corporate customers through about 14,900 branches nationwide and overseas branches in Luxembourg, Hong Kong, Singapore, Frankfurt, Johannesburg, Tokyo, Seoul, Sydney and other countries. In 2009, CCB opened its New York Branch and a wholly owned subsidiary in London. In 2014, China Construction Bank launched four subsidiaries: the Toronto branch, the New Zealand subsidiary, the Macau branch and the Brisbane branch. The Bank was listed on Hong Kong Stock Exchange and Shanghai Stock Exchange in October 2005 and September 2007, respectively. As of April 10, 2015, the market capitalization of CCB reached approximately US$230 billion, ranking 3rd among listed banks in the world. The history of the CCB dates back to 1954 when the Peoples Construction Bank of China was established. This entity was renamed to China Construction Bank in 1996. China's government owns about 58% of CCB. As of December 31, 2014, CCB’s total assets amounted to CNY 16.744 trillion (US$2.704 trillion), customer loans stood at CNY 9.475 trillion and customer deposits totaled CNY 12.899 trillion.
