Banco de la Nación Argentina (Bank of the Argentine Nation) is a state-owned bank, and the largest financial institution in Argentina. It provides a wide array of financial services for personal and business customers including current and savings accounts, national accounts, personal and mortgage loans, industrial, agricultural and export loans, credit cards, investments, life insurance, car insurance, personal accident insurance, foreign trade services, corporate cards, leasing products and more. With over 16,000 employees, the bank maintains over 640 branches across Argentina, and 14 overseas branches (Bolivia, Brazil, USA, Cayman Islands, Chile, France, Spain, UK, Japan, Panama, Paraguay, Uruguay and Venezuela) and two representative offices: Caracas (Venezuela) and Porto Alegre (Brazil). Banco de la Nación was established in October 1891 by President Carlos Pellegrini by way of stabilizing the nation's finances following the Panic of 1890. The Bank’s headquarters in the San Nicolás section of Buenos Aires was designed by local architect Alejandro Bustillo in 1938. As of December 2011, BNA had US$36.7 billion in assets and over US$30 billion in deposits.
