Bank Coop

Bank Coop AG (BC: SWX) is a leading domestic universal bank with total assets of CHF15.256 billion (US$ 16.72 billion) and loans of CHF 13.011billion (US$14.26 billion) as of December 31, 2012. The Bank operates through over 32 offices across the country and has no branches outside Switzerland. Bank Coop was established in 1927 as a cooperative society by the Swiss Confederation of Trade Unions (SGB) and the Federation of Swiss Consumer Associations under the name of Cooperative Central Bank. In 1995, the Bank changed its name to Coop Bank. In December 1999, Basler Kantonalbank acquired the majority of Coop Bank shares. As of December 2011, 57.6% of the Bank's share capital was held by Basler Kantonalbank. As at June 14, 2012, Bank Coop had a market capitalization of $739 million.
