UBI Banca (Unione di Banche Italiane S.c.p.A.) is one of the top five banking groups in Italy with a market share of about 6% and a significant presence in the wealthiest areas of the country.  It is also the fourth largest Italian bank in terms of loans to customers and direct funding from customers. UBI Banca is a cooperative group, listed on the Milan Stock Exchange and included in the FTSE/MIB index. Eight retail banks, with a full range of products and services, shape the profile of the Group. UBI has 1,673 local branches of which about 800 branches in Lombardy (where the two largest members of its retail network, Banca Popolare di Bergamo and Banca di Brescia, are headquartered) and 200 branches in Piedmont. The Group also has a significant presence in the South of Italy through Banca Carime, which has more than 300 branches across Apulia, Calabria, Campania and Basilicata. The Group was created on April 1st, 2007 through the merger of BPU Group and Banca Lombarda Group. With about 3.7 million customers, UBI Banca has total assets of EUR 123.226 billion (June 2014).
