Credito Emiliano SpA (Gruppo Credem, Credem Banca) is among the ten largest Italian banking groups. It was founded in 1910 by a group of entrepreneurs in Reggio Emilia. Credito Emiliano SpA is 76.9% owned by Credito Emiliano Holding SpA. The Maramotti family indirectly controls about 37.8% of voting rights in the latter. The Maramotti family also owns MaxMara Fashion Group. Established in 1951 by Achille Maramotti, MaxMara had more than 2,250 stores in 90 countries. Credem has been listed on the Italian stock exchange since October 1997. As of December 31, 2015, Gruppo Credem had total assets of EUR 37.455 billion, customer deposits of EUR 17.871 billion and loans to customers of EUR 23.093 billion.
