Scotiabank Chile (formerly Scotiabank Sud Americano, SSA) was created by a group of prominent Chilean businessmen in 1944 under the name Banco Sud Americano. The company provides a full range of retail and commercial banking services with focus on the commercial and corporate sectors and international trade. It offers deposit products, consumer and business loans, mortgages, credit and debit cards, insurance products, foreign exchange, mutual funds, factoring, leasing, cash management, wealth management, financial advisory services, internet banking and more. With over 3,800 employees, Scotiabank Chile operates a network of more than 130 branches and 190 ATMs across the country. About half of the branches are located in and around Santiago. In September 2010, the Bank announced its agreement to acquire the Royal Bank of Scotland’s corporate and commercial banking operations in Chile. As of March 31, 2016, Scotiabank Chile had total assets of CLP 11.050 trillion (US$16.6 billion).
