Top Banks in Europe 2021
The following table ranks the largest banks in Europe by total assets at the end of 2021. HSBC Holdings reclaimed the top spot from BNP Paribas, the two separated by less than US$50 billion, while Credit Agricole Group held third place. France and the United Kingdom each placed six banks in the top 50, followed by Spain, Germany and Italy with five apiece. Figures are converted from euros at the European Central Bank reference rate of US$1.1326 to the euro on December 31, 2021.
