Euronext

Euronext N.V. is a pan-European stock exchange with locations in London, Brussels, Lisbon, Amsterdam and Paris. Euronext is home to over 1,300 listed companies with combined market capitalization of more than $3.4 trillion as of end October 2016. The company has a two-tier governance structure with a Supervisory Board and a Managing Board. It was created in September 2000 through the merger of the Amsterdam, Brussels and Paris stock exchanges. At December 31, 2001, the company’s authorised share capital was EUR 200 million consisting of 200,000,000 shares, each with a par value of EUR 1. In 2001, Euronext acquired the shares of the London International Financial Futures and Options Exchange (LIFFE). In 2002, Euronext acquired the Portuguese stock exchange (Bolsa de Valores de Lisboa e Porto, BVLP) and BVLP changed its name to Euronext Lisbon on February 6, 2002. In April 2007, Euronext merged with NYSE Group to form NYSE Euronext. In 2013, Intercontinental Exchange Inc (ICE) acquired NYSE Euronext and Euronext became a standalone company again in 2014. The average daily transaction value on the Euronext cash order book stood at $7.1 billion at September 2016.
