Following are the largest gold mining companies ranked by market capitalization and gold production. Barrick Gold Corporation is the world’s largest gold miner with market value of US$19 billion. The company produced 5.517 million ounces of gold in 2016. In the first quarter 2017, it produced 1.3 million ounces of gold. Barrick’s five core mines are Cortez and Goldstrike in Nevada, Pueblo Viejo in the Dominican Republic, Lagunas Norte in Peru and Veladero in Argentina. Newmont Mining Corp, headquartered in Greenwood Village (Colorado, USA), is the world’s second largest gold producer. In 2016, the company’s attributable gold production was 4.9 million ounces and revenue amounted to $6.7 billion. In the first quarter 2017, Newmont produced 1.234 million ounces of gold.
