Toronto-Dominion Bank (TD Bank Group) is one of Canada’s largest banks and describes itself as the sixth largest bank in North America by assets. It serves 28.2 million clients worldwide, including approximately 16 million in Canadian Personal and Commercial Banking, and at July 31, 2026 had 2,085 branches, 4,952 automated teller machines and 105,324 average full-time equivalent employees. It trades on the Toronto and New York stock exchanges under the symbol "TD". The company was created in 1955 through the merger of Bank of Toronto and Dominion Bank, which were founded in 1855 and 1869, respectively. As of July 31, 2026, TD Bank Group had total assets of C$2.112 trillion, deposits of C$1.261 trillion and loans of C$991 billion. Its deposits were rated Aa1 by Moody’s.

Canadian Personal and Commercial Banking, the segment formerly reported as Canadian Retail, includes TD Canada Trust, Business Banking, MBNA and TD Auto Finance, and serves approximately 16 million clients through a network of 1,037 branches. MBNA is a provider of co-branded and affinity credit card programs in Canada. TD Insurance, TD Wealth and TD Asset Management are reported in the separate Wealth Management and Insurance segment.

U.S. Banking, the segment formerly reported as U.S. Retail, includes TD Bank and TD Auto Finance (US). It serves over 10 million customers through a network of 1,048 branches across the Northeast, Mid-Atlantic, North Carolina and South Carolina, Florida and Metro D.C. TD Ameritrade is no longer part of TD: on February 12, 2025 the bank sold its entire remaining equity investment in The Charles Schwab Corporation, successor to TD Ameritrade (184.7 million shares, representing 10.1% economic ownership), for proceeds of C$21.0 billion.

Wholesale Banking includes TD Securities and TD Cowen. TD Securities is a corporate and investment bank operating in key financial centres worldwide and providing advisory and capital markets services.

In October 2024 TD reached a global resolution of United States anti-money-laundering investigations totalling US$3.088 billion (C$4.233 billion). TD Bank, N.A. and TD Bank US Holding Company pleaded guilty; on October 10, 2024 the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency issued a cease and desist order and a US$450 million civil money penalty against TD Bank, N.A. and TD Bank USA, N.A., and the Federal Reserve Board fined the bank US$123.5 million. The resolution also imposed an asset limitation preventing the average combined total assets of TD’s two United States banking subsidiaries from exceeding US$434 billion.

Credit ratings as at July 31, 2026 were Aa1 for deposits and A2 for senior debt from Moody’s, A+ and A- from Standard & Poor’s, AA+ and AA- from Fitch, and AA and AA (low) from DBRS, each with a stable outlook.
