Bank of India (BoI) was established on September 7, 1906 in Mumbai. It was under private ownership and control till July 1969 when it was nationalized along with 13 other banks. BoI is one of India's leading banks with total revenue of approximately US$7 billion. As of March 31, 2026 the company operated 5,533 branches, of which 5,511 were in India and 22 overseas. At March 31, 2026 the bank's international network comprised 22 overseas branches, a representative office in Jakarta, four subsidiaries and one associate or joint venture, spread across 15 countries on five continents. It has offices in key financial centers including London, New York, Paris, Tokyo, Hong-Kong and Singapore. Bank of India established new subsidiaries in New Zealand, Uganda and Botswana in 2011, 2012, and 2013, respectively. The international business is responsible for over 18.0% of Bank's assets. As of June 30, 2026, the company had consolidated total assets of INR 12.09 trillion, global deposits of INR 9.58 trillion and global advances of INR 7.98 trillion. Rajneesh Karnatak is managing director and chief executive officer of Bank of India, a post he held throughout the 2025-26 financial year. Dinabandhu Mohapatra was appointed to the post on May 5, 2017.
