HSBC Bank (China) Company Limited is a wholly-owned subsidiary of The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Limited. With over 5,000 employees, HSBC China has one of the largest networks of any foreign bank in the country. It operates branches and sub-branches across more than 40 mainland cities. HSBC is also is one of the largest investors among foreign banks with over US$5 billion investment in mainland China. Its business is organised around International Wealth and Premier Banking and Corporate and Institutional Banking, and covers deposits, consumer and business loans, debit and credit cards, insurance, private banking, internet banking, cash management, wealth management, business finance, custody and clearing services and treasury services. HSBC Bank (China) was established on April 2, 2007 and is headquartered in Shanghai. Its president and chief executive officer is Mark Wang. In 2024 the bank completed the acquisition of Citi's retail wealth management portfolio in the Chinese mainland. In 2025 HSBC opened a new office tower in Qianhai, Shenzhen, its first wholly owned office complex in southern China, and the HSBC Global Training Centre in Nansha, Guangzhou, the largest training facility of the HSBC Group worldwide.
