Rabobank, N.A. was a community bank in California. It was merged into Mechanics Bank of Walnut Creek, California, with effect from August 31, 2019 and no longer exists as a separate institution.

Rabobank Group, the Dutch cooperative banking group, continues to operate; it was only the United States retail subsidiary that was sold.

Acquisition by Mechanics Bank

Mechanics Bank, of Walnut Creek, California, announced on September 3, 2019 that it had completed the acquisition of Rabobank, N.A., covering its retail, business banking, commercial real estate, mortgage and wealth management businesses together with its branch office network, for consideration of about USD 2.1 billion. The FDIC records Rabobank, National Association (certificate 23364, Roseville, California) as merged into Mechanics Bank (certificate 1768) with effect from August 31, 2019, transferring 107 branches. Its final call report showed USD 13.19 billion in total assets and USD 9.81 billion in deposits at June 30, 2019.

The Rabobank retail brand was withdrawn from the United States and the address www.rabobankamerica.com no longer resolves. Mechanics Bank reported USD 21.2 billion in total assets and 169 offices at June 30, 2026.
