HSBC México, S.A. Institución de Banca Múltiple is one of the leading financial institutions in the country. It operates as a subsidiary of Grupo Financiero HSBC, S.A. de C.V. The company offers a wide range of banking products and services including savings and current accounts, personal and auto loans, mortgages, credit and debit cards, mutual funds, investments, life and general insurance, internet banking, and more. It also provides treasury and cash management, international trade services, international payments, trust and brokerage services, corporate finance advisory services as well as private banking. HSBC Group has been operating in Mexico since opening a representative office in the 1970s. In 2000, it acquired Republic National Bank. In 2002, HSBC purchased Grupo Financiero Bital (GF Bital), Mexico's third largest retail bank, for US$1.1 billion. Grupo Financiero Bital was formed in 1992 as a result of a merger between Grupo Financiero Privado Mexicano (Prime) and Banco Internacional.

As of June 30, 2026, HSBC Mexico had 12,145 employees and operated a network of 600 branches and 4,507 ATMs. At that date Grupo Financiero HSBC reported total assets of MXN 909.805 billion and total net loans and advances to customers of MXN 432.520 billion. At March 31, 2017 the group had 16,000 employees and 5.6 million customers, with more than 970 branches and 5,470 ATMs, total assets of MXN 645.606 billion (US$36 billion), total deposits of MXN 296.9 billion and net loans of MXN 260 billion.
