St.Galler Kantonalbank (SGKB) is a Switzerland-based private bank established in 1868. It provides a full range of financial products and services including retail, commercial, private and institutional banking. The canton St.Gallen is the Bank’s majority shareholder with 55% of the share capital. SGKB’s home market includes the canton of St. Gallen, canton of Appenzell Ausserrhoden and adjacent areas. HSZH Verwaltungs AG (formerly Hyposwiss Privatbank AG, Zurich), a 100%-owned subsidiary of St.Galler Kantonalbank, is engaged in the investment advisory business. St.Galler Kantonalbank Deutschland AG concentrates on the asset management business for private investors and financial intermediaries in Germany. In 2014, Hyposwiss Private Bank Genève SA (former subsidiary of St.Galler Kantonalbank) was sold to Mirelis InvesTrust SA. With 1,214 employees, SGKB Group operates 35 retail and commercial branches and 6 private banking branches in St. Gallen as well as 2 branches in Appenzell Ausserrhoden. SGKB is the largest bank in its home canton with a market share of 30%. It is also the ninth largest universal bank and the fifth largest cantonal bank in Switzerland in terms of total assets. As of June 30, 2017, St.Galler Kantonalbank had total assets of CHF 32.527 billion, customer loans of CHF 25.163 billion and shareholders’ equity of CHF 2.2 billion. The company’s market capitalization is CHF 2.5 billion (December 5, 2017).
