Credit Suisse Group AG (SIX: CSGN, NYSE: CS) was a multinational financial services company headquartered in Zurich. It was acquired by UBS in 2023 and no longer exists as an independent bank; the description that follows records the group as it stood in 2017. It offered products and services to corporate and institutional customers, government clients and high-net-worth individuals worldwide, as well as affluent and retail customers in Switzerland. The company operated through three regionally focused divisions: Swiss Universal Bank, International Wealth Management and Asia Pacific. The divisions were supported by two other businesses: Global Markets & Investment Banking and Capital Markets. In 2017 Credit Suisse Group employed approximately 46,000 people and had over 500 offices in 50 countries. In Switzerland, the company had more than 200 branches for private and corporate customers, and contact centers in the German-, French- and Italian- speaking regions. In EMEA region, Credit Suisse had operations in 26 countries with regional headquarters in the UK. The Asia Pacific region comprised 18 offices in 12 markets. Singapore and Hong Kong were the key hubs for Private Banking & Wealth Management and Investment Banking business. The company also operated in the U.S., Canada, the Caribbean and Latin America. As of June 30, 2017, Credit Suisse Group had total assets of CHF 783.411 billion, assets under management of CHF 1.307 trillion and client assets of CHF 1.590 trillion.

Acquisition by UBS
In March 2023 UBS agreed to acquire Credit Suisse in a rescue brokered by the Swiss authorities. The Swiss Financial Market Supervisory Authority (FINMA) announced its approval of the takeover on March 19, 2023, and UBS announced the legal closing of the acquisition in June 2023. Credit Suisse Group AG thereby ceased to exist as an independent listed company, and Credit Suisse AG, the operating bank, continued for a period afterwards as a company within UBS Group.
