Bank Cler AG

Bank Cler AG (formerly Bank Coop AG) is a leading domestic universal bank with total assets of CHF 19.5 billion, mortgage claims of CHF 16.6 billion and customer deposits of CHF 11.7 billion as at June 30, 2026. It operates through 23 offices across the country and has no branches outside Switzerland. With 382 employees (338 full-time equivalents), it offers current and savings accounts, credit and debit cards, loan and mortgage products, pension plans, asset management, online banking and other services. The company was established in 1927 as a cooperative society by the Swiss Confederation of Trade Unions (SGB) and Federation of Swiss Consumer Associations under the name of Cooperative Central Bank. In 1995, it was rebranded to Coop Bank. In December 1999, Basler Kantonalbank acquired the majority of Bank Coop shares. In May 2017, Bank Coop AG changed its name to Bank Cler AG. Bank Cler is a wholly owned subsidiary of Basler Kantonalbank and its registered shares are no longer listed on the SIX Swiss Exchange.

The table above lists the branch network as it stood in 2018. Bank Cler's 2025 annual report lists 23 branches: Aarau, Basel, Bellinzona, Bern, Biel, Chur, Fribourg, Geneva, La Chaux-de-Fonds, Lausanne, Locarno, Lugano, Lucerne, Neuchâtel, Olten, Schaffhausen, Sion, Solothurn, St. Gallen, Thun, Vevey, Winterthur and Zurich. The Brugg, Delémont, Jona, Yverdon-les-Bains, Zug, Zürich-Oerlikon, Zürich-Wiedikon and Basel Güterstrasse offices and one of the two Lugano offices have closed, and several of the remaining addresses have changed; the Zurich branch, for example, moved from Uraniastrasse 6 to Rennweg 57.
