Banco Santander, S.A. (MCE: SAN, LSE: BNC, NYSE:SAN) is the largest bank in Spain and euro area by market capitalization. With about 188,000 employees, it serves over 125 million customers and 4 million shareholders through a network of more than 12,000 branches worldwide. Retail banking, the main aspect of Santander, generates approximately 80% of the Group's profit. The company presence is concentrated in 9 major markets: Spain, Portugal, Germany, the UK, Brazil, Mexico, Chile, Argentina and the United States. In 2008, Santander acquired Sovereign Bank, the U.S. bank with a strong presence in retail banking market in the north east of the country. Sovereign was rebranded as Santander in 2013. In 2014 - 2016, Santander completed integration with Banesto and Banif (Banco Internacional do Funchal). In the first quarter of 2017, Santander Group reported net income of €1.867 billion, revenue of €12.03 billion, total assets of €1.352 trillion, customer loans of €795 billion, customer deposits of €706 billion and total equity of €105 billion.

Continental Europe: Santander Group has approximately 4,700 branches including 2,900 branches in Spain, 631 branches in Poland, 627 branches in Portugal (Santander Totta) and 568 branches of Santander Consumer Finance which operates in all regions including Germany, Italy and the Nordic countries.

United Kingdom: Following the acquisition of Alliance & Leicester and Bradford & Bingley in 2008, Santander has become the third largest bank in the UK by deposits. It operates 840 branches and employs around 25,600 people in the United Kingdom.

United States: Santander N.A. has over 700 branches in Massachusetts, Connecticut, Delaware, Maryland, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania and Rhode Island.

Latin America: With about 5,800 branches and 86,000 employees, Santander is the largest financial franchise in the region as well as one of the leading banking groups in Brazil, Mexico, Chile and Argentina. In Brazil, following the integration of Banco Real, Banco Santander Brazil secured its position as the third largest private bank in the country with over 3,400 branches and 31 million customers. Santander also has subsidiaries in Puerto Rico, Colombia and Uruguay.
