De Volksbank

ASN Bank N.V. (formerly de Volksbank N.V., and before that SNS Bank N.V.) is a financial services provider with a focus on the Dutch retail market including private individuals, self-employed persons and small and medium-sized enterprises. It serves about three million customers and describes itself as the fourth retail bank of the Netherlands. More than 700 full-time equivalent staff left the organisation in the second half of 2025, and a further reduction of 850 to 950 FTEs was announced for 2026. It provides a full range of banking products and services including current accounts, savings, mortgages, insurance, loans, investments, internet banking and more. In 2013, the Bank was nationalized by the Dutch State. In 2017, SNS Bank N.V. and its subsidiaries merged into de Volksbank, a single bank operating under the SNS, ASN, RegioBank and BLG Wonen brands. On 1 July 2025 de Volksbank N.V. changed its legal name to ASN Bank N.V. and began consolidating those four brands into one: SNS was absorbed into ASN Bank on the same date, RegioBank on 1 December 2025 and BLG Wonen on 1 March 2026. The bank remains owned by the Dutch State through NLFI.
