Bank of Montreal Ireland Plc, renamed Bank of Montreal Europe plc with effect from 2 September 2019, started its activities in 1996 and specializes in money market trading, equity and credit derivatives, fund administration services and lending to corporates. The bank had about US$9 billion in assets and employed over 20 people; both figures predate the change of name and have not been updated since. The company operates as a subsidiary of Canadian BMO Financial Group, one of the biggest banks in North America.

The bank has traded as Bank of Montreal Europe plc since 2 September 2019. It remains licensed under Section 9 of the Central Bank Act 1971 and is listed under that name on the register of credit institutions published by the Central Bank of Ireland on 1 September 2026. It operates from the International Financial Services Centre in Dublin and also has a presence in Paris, serving financial institutions, large corporates, sovereigns and private equity funds.
