Citibank Greece
Citibank Greece was one of the largest card issuers in Greece and one of the first to introduce investment products to the Greek market. In June 2014, Citibank sold its retail banking business in Greece (including Diners Club of Greece SA Credit Card Unit) to Alpha Bank, the fourth-largest lender by assets in Greece. The acquired operations include Citi’s wealth management unit with assets under management of EUR 2.1 billion as well as a retail branch network of 20 units which serves 480,000 customers. More than 720 employees working for Citi’s retail operations were transferred to Alpha Bank. Citi’s remaining operations in Greece are conducted by Citibank Europe plc, Greece Branch, which provides corporate and institutional banking services to businesses, financial institutions and the public sector. Citibank Europe plc is listed among the regular members of the Hellenic Bank Association.
