Landesbank Berlin Holding AG

Landesbank Berlin Holding AG (previously known as Bankgesellschaft Berlin) is a large commercial bank headquartered in the German capital. It provides a wide range of financial products and services through its subsidiaries: Landesbank Berlin AG and Berliner Sparkasse, one of the largest local savings banks in Germany. The company operates in the following business segments: Retail Banking, Regional Corporate Banking, Real Estate Financing, Capital Markets and Refinancing & Interest Management. At December 31, 2025 it reported a staff capacity of 3,065 excluding apprentices, together with 203 apprentices, dual students and trainees, and total assets of EUR 44.8 billion. It held a share of about 32% of the Berlin retail banking market and about 34% of the corporate banking market. It also ranks among the largest providers of business banking services in the Berlin-Brandenburg region. The bank was formerly one of the largest credit card issuers in Germany, but it has since given up its third-party co-branded card business: its co-operations with ADAC were ended in 2024 and the ADAC card portfolio was sold. The credit card unit re-established in April 2025, which consists mainly of cards from the former Amazon portfolio, is run as an existing-customer book without new business. Landesbank Berlin Holding operates as a subsidiary of Deutscher Sparkassen- und Giroverband, the German association of savings banks. The bank and its holding company have since been renamed: on July 15, 2025 Landesbank Berlin AG became BSK 1818 AG, the name under which its 2025 annual report was issued, and Landesbank Berlin Holding AG became BSK 1818 Holding AG. The bank serves customers under the Berliner Sparkasse brand, and its former lbb.de web address redirects to bsk1818.de and from there to the Berliner Sparkasse website.

The bank formerly listed a Luxembourg branch at 30 Boulevard Royal, L-2449 Luxembourg, and a London branch at 1 Crown Court, Cheapside, London EC2V 6LR. Neither branch is referred to in its 2025 annual report.
