Landesbank Baden-Württemberg (LBBW) is a universal bank with strong regional roots. It employs about 10,800 staff and operates as the central bank for the savings banks in Baden-Württemberg, Rhineland Palatinate and Saxony. Together with BW-Bank, its retail and mid-market brand in Baden-Württemberg, Landesbank Baden-Württemberg provides a whole range of products and services through around 80 locations across Germany and 16 abroad. The LBBW Rheinland-Pfalz Bank brand was discontinued on March 31, 2019, after which corporate customer business outside Baden-Württemberg was carried on under the LBBW name alone, although the Mainz site was retained. The LBBW Sachsen Bank brand has since also been withdrawn, and sachsenbank.de now redirects to the LBBW website. LBBW business areas include corporate banking, private banking, savings, real estate financing and financial markets. LBBW acquired Berlin Hyp AG with economic and legal effect from July 1, 2022 and merged it into LBBW on August 1, 2025, since when all commercial real estate financing in the group, including the international business, has been conducted under the Berlin Hyp brand as an organisationally independent unit within LBBW, covering a commercial real estate exposure of about EUR 61 billion at the end of 2025. For the local corporate customers, LBBW Group offers services on a global basis with selected international locations including branches and representative offices in New York, London, Zurich, Vienna, Dubai, Istanbul, Singapore, Sao Paulo, Shanghai, Hanoi, and Seoul. The international network is further enhanced by the five German Centers in Beijing, Mexico City, Singapore, Delhi and Moscow. The company’s main domestic offices are located in Stuttgart, Karlsruhe, Mannheim and Mainz. Landesbank Baden-Württemberg was formed on January 1, 1999 through the merger of three different banks: SüdwestLB, Landesgirokasse and L-Bank.
