Landesbank Hessen-Thüringen GZ (Helaba) is a universal bank with a strong regional focus. It provides a wide range of financial products and services to corporate, private and institutional customers; central, regional and local public authorities and municipal corporations. With around 6,900 employees, Helaba is the central S-Group institution for around 40 per cent of German savings banks, covering Hessen, Thuringia, North Rhine Westphalia and Brandenburg. The Bank’s business units include Wholesale Business; S-Group Business, Private Customers and SME Business; and Public Development and Infrastructure Business. Its international network comprises London, Madrid, New York, Paris, São Paulo, Shanghai, Singapore and Stockholm; Helaba no longer lists a Moscow office, and the former Dublin company has traded since April 25, 2024 as Helaba Asset Services GmbH, based in Frankfurt am Main. As of June 30, 2026, Helaba Group had total assets of EUR 205.0 billion, up from EUR 201.8 billion at December 31, 2025. As of June 30, 2017, the group had reported total assets of EUR 164 billion, loans and advances to customers of EUR 91.7 billion, loans and advances to banks of EUR 23 billion and equity of EUR 7.9 billion. Landesbank Hessen-Thüringen was established as Hessische Landesbank on June 1, 1953 and has two head offices in Frankfurt am Main and Erfurt.
