BayernLB (Bayerische Landesbank or Bavarian State Bank) is one of the leading commercial banks in Germany. It acts as the principal bank to the state of Bavaria as well as the central clearing house for the Bavarian savings banks (Bavarian Sparkassen). BayernLB operates in the following business areas: Corporates & Mittelstand, Real Estate & Savings Banks/Association, DKB, Financial Markets and Non-core business. Retail customers are mainly served by DKB (Deutsche Kreditbank AG), Germany’s second largest online bank with over 3.4 million customers. The Free State of Bavaria holds 75% stake in the Bank and Association of Bavarian Savings Banks holds 25%. With over 7,000 employees, Bayerische Landesbank has offices in Munich, Nuremberg, Stuttgart, Frankfurt, Dusseldorf, Hamburg and Berlin as well as branches in London, Milan, Paris and New York. Bayerische Landesbank operates as a subsidiary of BayernLB Holding AG. As of December 31, 2016, the company had total assets of EUR 212.2 billion and total deposits of EUR 141 billion.
