HSBC France

HSBC France, renamed HSBC Continental Europe on December 1, 2020, is a subsidiary of HSBC Holdings, a multinational corporation with about 90 million customers. Following the sale of its French retail banking business on January 1, 2024, HSBC Continental Europe no longer offers retail banking in France. It provides commercial banking, global banking, markets and securities services for corporate and institutional clients, together with asset management and insurance, complemented by a targeted wealth and private banking business, and it operates ten branches elsewhere in Europe, in Belgium, the Czech Republic, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Poland, Spain and Sweden, as well as bank subsidiaries in Luxembourg and Malta. HSBC France was formerly known as Crédit Commercial de France (CCF). In July 2000, HSBC Holdings acquired Crédit Commercial de France. In November 2005, CCF became HSBC France. In 2008, HSBC France sold its regional retail banking subsidiaries (Société Marseillaise de Crédit, Banque de Savoie, Banque Chaix, Banque Marze, Banque Dupuy, de Parseval, Banque Pelletier and Crédit Commercial du Sud-Ouest) to Banque Populaire Group. In 2011, HSBC Private Bank France merged with HSBC France. In 2013, HSBC France acquired HSBC Assurances Vie (France). On December 1, 2020, HSBC France was renamed HSBC Continental Europe. On January 1, 2024, HSBC Continental Europe completed the sale of its French retail banking business, together with its 100 percent interest in HSBC SFH (France), which was renamed CCF SFH, to CCF, a subsidiary of Promontoria MMB SAS (My Money Group), a group controlled by funds and accounts managed or advised by Cerberus Capital Management.

As of June 30, 2016, HSBC France had EUR 196.194 billion in total assets, EUR 35.948 billion in customer deposits, EUR 40.420 billion in customer loans and EUR 6.058 billion in total equity.
