Alm. Brand

Alm. Brand A/S is a listed Danish insurance group. It provides non-life insurance to personal, commercial and agricultural customers under the Alm. Brand, Codan, Privatsikring and Erhvervssikring brands. The acquisition of the Danish business of Codan Forsikring, completed on May 2, 2022, made it one of the largest non-life insurers in Denmark, with more than 800,000 customers and a market share of about 15 per cent. The company was established in 1792 and is headquartered in Copenhagen. As of December 31, 2025, Alm. Brand Group had total assets of DKK 32.022 billion and 2,040 full-time-equivalent employees, and its insurance revenue for the 2025 financial year was DKK 11.790 billion. The group takes no deposits, having withdrawn from banking in 2020.

In October 2020 Alm. Brand A/S agreed to sell Alm. Brand Bank A/S, together with its wholly owned subsidiaries Alm. Brand Leasing A/S and Ejendomsselskabet AB ApS, to Sydbank A/S for DKK 1,833 million, or 0.95 times the net asset value of the bank. The Danish Financial Supervisory Authority and the Danish Competition and Consumer Authority approved the transaction on October 30, 2020, and it was to complete no later than the end of November 2020.
