Bank Austria (or UniCredit Bank Austria AG) is one of biggest banks in the country with market shares ranging from 15 to 50 percent. It is the number one banking partner for Austrian companies. Since November 2005, Bank Austria has been a member of UniCredit Group, one of the leading financial institutions in Europe. Within UniCredit Group, Bank Austria was responsible for the growth in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) region. In 2016, it transfered the CEE banking subsidiaries to the parent company. Today, the Bank employs over 5,800 people and operates a network of 146 branches in Austria. As of June 30, 2017, it had total assets of EUR 102.9 billion, loans and receivables with customers of EUR 60.2 billion, deposits from banks of EUR 16.4 billion, deposits from customers of EUR 53.5 billion and equity of EUR 8.2 billion. It has one of the strongest capital bases among the large Austrian banks. The Tier 1 ratio amounts to 19.5%. Bank Austria was formed in 1991, through the merger of Zentralsparkasse und Kommerzialbank AG (est.1907) and Österreichische Länderbank AG (est.1880). The Global Finance named UniCredit Bank Austria "Best Trade Finance Provider” in the country (2017) for the ninth year in a row.
