Banco Hipotecario S.A. (BCBA: BHIP) is the leading mortgage lender in Argentina. It also the largest provider of insurance services linked to mortgages. It is a universal bank serving individuals, SMEs and major corporations. It offers loans for the purchase, construction, or improvement of residential properties, repayment of mortgages, personal and corporate loans, credit cards, deposit products, life and general insurance, export and project financing, leasing, online banking and other services. Banco Hipotecario was founded in 1886. As of 2025 it had a staff of about 1,400 and operated 52 branches and one virtual branch nationwide. On Central Bank of Argentina data for June 2026 it ranked seventeenth by total assets among the Argentine banks with published balance sheets, holding assets of ARS 3.67 trillion and deposits of ARS 2.42 trillion. Its consolidated total assets were ARS 3.87 trillion and consolidated equity ARS 677.0 billion at June 30, 2026, stated in constant June 2026 pesos. At March 31, 2017 the bank had total assets of ARS 56.130 billion (US$3.6 billion), loans of ARS 27.689 billion and deposits of ARS 19.581 billion. Net income for the first quarter of 2017 was ARS 253 million.
