Grupo Profuturo

Grupo Profuturo S.A.B. de C.V. (MEX: GPROFUT) is a Mexico-based holding company incorporated in November 2001. It primarily manages retirement saving plans and pension insurance contracts for employees and pensioners. The Group also offers personal loans to pensioners. With about 200 branches and 4,000 employees, it operates through Profuturo GNP Afore (a pension fund manager), Profuturo GNP Pensiones, Profuturo GNP Fondos, and Profuturo GNP Prestamos (personal loans). Grupo Profuturo operates as a subsidiary of Grupo BAL S.A. de C.V., which also controls Grupo Nacional Provincial (the leading insurer in Mexico) and department store chain Palacio de Hierro. Grupo BAL was led by Mexican businessman Alberto Bailleres Gonzalez until April 2021, when his son Alejandro Bailleres Gual assumed the presidency and Alberto Bailleres was named honorary lifetime chairman of the board. Alberto Bailleres died on February 2, 2022 at the age of 90, with a fortune estimated at US$10.48 billion. As of March 31, 2017, Grupo Profuturo had total assets of MXN 44.492 billion (US$2.5 billion).
