Tangerine Bank (formerly ING Direct Canada) is the online banking subsidiary of Scotiabank. With over 2 million customers, it offers personal and business savings accounts, chequing accounts, Guaranteed Investment Certificates (GIC), mortgages, mutual funds, money-back credit cards, home equity lines of credit, RSP loans and other services. Tangerine provides mutual funds to over 100,000 customers. It is also Canada’s 7th largest deposit taker and 6th largest provider of home loans. In 2016, the company began to offer a MasterCard cash back credit card with no annual fee. It was previously known as ING Bank of Canada (operating as ING Direct) and changed its name to Tangerine Bank in 2014. The Bank doesn’t have typical bank branches; it operates through Cafés, Pop-Up Locations and Kiosks. As of May 31, 2017, it had C$38.5 billion in total assets.
