Nigerian stock exchange (NSE) was founded in 1960 as the Lagos Stock Exchange. In 1977, it became The Nigerian Stock Exchange. As of May 2011, NSE was the 3rd largest stock exchange in Africa by market capitalization after Johannesburg Stock Exchange and Bourse de Casablanca – US$776.5 billion, US$70.6 billion and US$48.4 billion respectively. NSE maintains an All-Share Index and only common stocks are included in the computation of the index.
