Johannesburg Stock Exchange (JSE) was founded in 1877 and is the top stock exchange in Africa. As of November 2011, JSE listed more than 400 companies and had market capitalization of US$799,7 billion. JSE is presently the 17th largest stock exchange in the world. Johannesburg Stock Exchange is planning to create a pan-African exchange by initially enabling investors to trade in shares from Ghana, Namibia, Zimbabwe and Zambia.
