BBVA Chile S.A. (Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria, Chile) is the sixth largest bank in Chile in terms of total assets. It operates as a subsidiary of Spanish financial group BBVA. BBVA Chile provides a wide range of financial products and services to corporate and retail customers. It offers current and savings accounts, personal and business loans, credit cards, mortgages, online banking, life and home insurance, personal accident insurance, unemployment insurance, foreign trade, cash management, leasing, factoring, investments and more. The Bank owns such subsidiaries as BBVA Corredores de Bolsa Limitada (securities brokerage), BBVA Administradora General de Fondos (asset management), BBVA Corredora Técnica de Seguros (insurance brokerage), BBVA Asesorias Financieras SA (financial advisory services), BBVA Sociedad de Leasing Inmobiliario SA (property leasing) and BBVA Factoring. BBVA Group started its operations in Chile in 1998 through Banco BHIF (Banco Hipotecario Internacional Financiero). The origin of this bank goes back to 1883 and the creation of Banco Hipotecario in Valparaíso. As of December 31, 2011, BBVA Chile had Ch$8.55 trillion (US$16.45 billion) in total assets, Ch$4.96 trillion (US$9.54 billion) in customer deposits, and Ch$542.648 billion (US$1.04 billion) in total equity.
