Fifth Third Bank is one of the large regional banks in the US and is the principal subsidiary of Fifth Third Bancorp. With about 22,000 employees, Fifth Third operates more than 1,300 bank branches, including more than 100 Bank Mart locations open seven days a week inside supermarkets and 2,400 ATMs in Ohio, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Missouri, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Tennessee and West Virginia. Fifth Third is one of the largest money managers in the Midwest. As of December, 2011, the company had over $280 billion in assets under care, of which it managed $24 billion for individuals, corporations and not-for-profit organizations. The Bank’s common stock is traded on the NASDAQ Global Select Market system under the symbol FITB. As of September 30, 2011, the Company had $115 billion in assets and over $81 billion in total deposits. Fifth Third Bank's history can be traced back to June, 1858, when the Bank of the Ohio Valley opened in Cincinnati.
