Cole Taylor Bank was the sixth largest bank in Chicago based on total assets. It provided a broad array of financial services including personal and business accounts, personal and business loans, residential mortgages, credit and ATM cards, online banking, treasury management, private and international banking and more. Cole Taylor Bank operated as a subsidiary of Taylor Capital Group Inc, a holding company headquartered in Rosemont, a suburb of Chicago. The Bank was established in 1929 and had grown to 800 employees at 11 locations. As of June 2012, it had total assets of $4.77 billion, loans of $3.15 billion, deposits of $3.2 billion and equity of $500 million.

In 2014, MB Financial Inc acquired Taylor Capital Group and merged Cole Taylor Bank with MB Financial Bank.
