Following is a list of the top 20 mortgage lenders in the UK ranked by gross mortgage lending.

Lloyds Banking Group, Santander and Nationwide Building Society are the three largest mortgage lenders in the UK with total gross lending of £94.7 billion (US$147 billion). The top 10 UK mortgage lenders hold a market share of more than 85%. Nationwide was named the Best Overall Mortgage Provider and the Best First Time Buyer Mortgage Provider 2015 on MoneySupermarket’s customer survey. Yorkshire, Norwich & Peterborough and Coventry building societies, Cumberland and Principality building societies as well as The Co-operative, Tesco Bank, HSBC, First Direct, Virgin Money and TSB provide the best fixed-rate mortgages (the cheapest mortgages), according to The Telegraph.
