Banco Santander Chile (NYSE: BSAC) is the largest bank in Chile in terms of total assets and shareholders’ equity. It operates as a subsidiary of Spanish financial services giant Santander Group. With over 11,790 employees, BSCh provides a wide range of financial products and services to more than 2.4 million retail and corporate customers. It offers current and savings accounts, personal and auto loans, mortgage loans, commercial loans, debit and credit cards, home insurance, life insurance, travel insurance, car insurance as well as mutual funds, cash management, investment management, treasury services, leasing, factoring, securitization services, financial advisory services, online banking and much more. Banco Santander Chile has the largest private branch network in Chile with 470 branches, 278 of which under the Santander brand name, 66 under Banefe brand name and 54 under the Select brand name. It also operates approximately 1,530 ATMs across the country. The legal predecessor of Santander Chile is Banco Santiago which was incorporated on September 7, 1977. In 1997, Banco Santiago merged with Banco O’Higgins and became a controlled subsidiary of Santander Group in 1999. As of March 31, 2016, Santander Chile had total assets of Ch$ 34.848 trillion (US$52.2 billion), total loans of Ch$ 25.694 trillion (US$38.5 billion), deposits of Ch$ 19.802 trillion (US$29.7 billion) and shareholders’ equity of Ch$ 2.822 trillion (US$4.2 billion).
