KB Kookmin Bank, the principal subsidiary of KB Financial Group (KBFG), is one of the largest banks in South Korea. The company provides a wide range of financial products and services to individuals, small and medium sized businesses (SMEs) and corporate customers. It operates approximately 9,000 ATMs and over 1,100 branches across the country, where it claims over 30 million retail customers, or more than half the population of Korea. KB counts over 20 million internet banking clients, the largest number in the domestic financial industry. It maintains the biggest market share in deposits, loans, trusts, custody, smart banking, and sales of mutual fund/bancassurance. The company was established in 1963 and is headquartered in Seoul. It has overseas offices in New York, London, Hong Kong, Tokyo, Guangzhou, Phnom Penh, Harbin, Hochiminh, Auckland and Yangon. Kookmin Bank is rated A1 by Moody’s, A+ by Standard & Poor's and A by Fitch. As of September 30, 2017, KB Financial Group had KRW 433.971 trillion in total assets and KRW 251.4 trillion in deposits. In 2017, KB Kookmin Bank was named the Best Trade Finance Bank and Best Custodian Bank in Korea by the Asian Banker.
