China Merchants Bank (CMB), headquartered in Shenzhen, is the biggest bank in southern China. The Bank focuses on the development of retail banking, wholesale banking, SME business and non-interest income business. CMB is one of the largest credit card issuers in the country with about 60 million credit cards in total as of March 31, 2015. CMB has about 115 branches, over 930 sub-branches, 2,330 self-service centers and 9,500 cash self-service machines (including 2,535 ATMs) as well as branches in Hong Kong, New York, Singapore and representative offices in London and Taipei. In 2008, China Merchants Bank became the first Chinese bank to open a branch in the United States. CMB subsidiaries include CMB Financial Leasing, China Merchants Fund, Wing Lung Bank and CMB International. The Bank was established on April 8, 1987 and was listed on the Shanghai Stock Exchange and Hong Kong Stock Exchange in 2002 and 2006, respectively. As of December 31, 2014, the company had total assets of RMB 4.731 trillion (US$764.2 billion), total loans of RMB 2.514 trillion and customer deposits of RMB 3.304 trillion. The market capitalization of CMB reached US$72.0 billion as of April 14, 2015.
