Investec (JSE: INL) is an international, specialist bank and asset manager that offers a wide range of financial products and services to a niche client base in three principal markets, the United Kingdom, South Africa and Australia. It also has banking operations in Ireland, Switzerland, Mauritius, Namibia, Botswana, China and the United States. Since Investec was established in South Africa in 1974, it has expanded through a combination of substantial organic growth and a series of strategic acquisitions in South Africa, the United Kingdom and other geographies. The company is organised as a network comprising six business divisions: Asset Management, Wealth & Investments, Property Activities, Private Banking, Investment Banking and Capital Markets. In 2002, Investec became the first South African group to list on the London Stock Exchange (share code INVP) and the Johannesburg Stock Exchange (share code INL) by implementing a Dual Listed Companies (DLC) structure. As of March 31, 2011, the Group had total assets £50.94 billion and total assets under management of £58.8 billon and employed more than 6700 people worldwide. Investec is involved in a number of rugby sponsorships around the world. It has become a long term sponsor of the Epsom Derby festival in the UK until 2013. Investec is the official shirt sponsor for Tottenham Hotspur's domestic cup games and UEFA Champions League games for the 2010/2011 and 2011/2012 seasons.
